Influencer Marketing: Why Influencers Are Becoming The New Retailers

The idea of being an influencer may seem to be a relatively new concept for a job description. Actually, influencers have been around much longer than one would expect. Socialites within communities have always been the individuals to watch and strive to be like. Instagram influencers are the socialites but now have the leverage of reaching an audience far beyond their close community.  The major difference between 2019 and 1919 is the technological tools businesses now have to market. Using influencer marketing the right way, can boost your engagement and sales!

It’s no wonder why influencers are becoming a key asset for increasing brand awareness and sales.  With the endless variety of niches that influencers fall under, brands can control their message by being ultra-specific with their target audience.  The power that these digital identities hold is quite outstanding. So much, in fact, they are turning how we perceive shopping upside down, possibly becoming the new form of retailers.

Trusted Voice

Consumers are more likely to trust the opinion of friends and family, instead of any businesses, especially if they are not familiar with them.  Influencers share just about every aspect of their lives with their followers, so they are seen as real human beings. Their career is solely based on connecting with individuals and created relationships.  A retail company can come across as genuine through their marketing efforts, but will most likely never be as vulnerable as an influencer.

Exponential Exposure

With your product stock sitting in brick and mortar retail locations, you are in some ways dependable of that store’s foot traffic.  Let alone, hoping they find your product amongst all the others. When practicing influencer marketing, investing a small amount of the budget is well worth it. Because the influencers have the ability to showcase your product in multiple forms.  Whether it’s an image post, video, or Instagram story, all are effective in getting in front of the right potential buyers.

Generate Sales

The beginning of the sales funnel begins with a potential customer seeing the product. Influencers convey products so that their followers can visualize how it could look in their personal lives.  The clearer image of how a product would be implemented into an everyday lifestyle is far more effective. Seeing it on a shelf in a store will be far less effective.  The interest then progresses within the comment section. Many of the influencer’s advocates are likely to comment “I need that” or “I want that”.

Creative and Unique Content

An influencer’s top priority is to stand out from the crowd, especially with the ever-growing amount of competition on social platforms.  Many come from creative and visual backgrounds already, so they strive to think outside of the box to create original content. One way influencers are growing engagement is through interactive content on their blogs.

influencer marketing, example while using Spott platform

Jonas De Cooman is Co-Founder and Co-CEO at spott.ai, a content marketing SaaS platform that allows users to make any content (pictures and videos) interactive, enriched, and shoppable. By processing it once, it becomes interactive across all platforms: your websites, social media channels, third party websites, interactive video player platforms and even physical assets, such as paper magazines and boarding. The spott.ai dashboard benchmarks performance of every unit of content on all platforms based on views, clicks and baskets. User profiling is available on request.

More interactive layouts

We added 7 different layers of Spotts that you can use now! There is a side panel, a carousel, an audio tooltip, an iframe, a form … Previously these layers were hidden; now they are full standalone interactive layers.

In the same action we also made visual cards to better explain each interactive layer with a ready to use style. You can now directly drop a layer on your media which will look good; so you can focus on changing the content and it will be ready to publish.

Better customization options

We added much more options per interactive layer and we also improved the explanation of each customizable item for a better understanding.

Next, we grouped the customization options in a much more logical way. Now, there are 3 tabs that separate the content of the layer from the styling; and even the more advanced options. Per tab the options are grouped per sub-element in the interactive layers; being the spott, the tooltip, the clickable area and the button.

More workspace

In the previous version of the studio the customization of the Spotts was done on the right side, whilst you could perform more actions on the left side. We merged these 2 functionalities so you can focus on 1 thing at a time. By doing this we also won space to focus more on the media that you are making interactive.

Easier template creation

Before you had build up the complete interactive Spott layer from scratch, that’s removed! Now you select an interactive spott and customize it to your own look and feel straight in the studio. If you’re satisfied, you just save this interactive Spott as a template from the studio to be used on other content.

Easier payments

We changed the way you can buy, upgrade or downgrade your subscription package. You need to perform less steps and can switch more easily from one package to another.

More improvements

You will notice more minor changes that improved the usability of the tool, here’s the list:

  • Editing the colors is now directly saved.
  • Edit mode is much more like the preview mode
  • Timestamp in video also under the tab of content
  • Background color changed of the studio to make it lighter
  • Reduced media content space

What’s next?

This release was a big change in how you select and customize an interactive layer; but we aren’t done yet… we know it can be improved still. In the next weeks we will be working on the further improvement of these options. Next we are making a media library where you can input all your images, catalogues and pdf’s directly to be used in the studio. To end the year we will simplify the structure of the platform with direct access to all important aspects of Spott; removing different tabs, submenu and other hidden features.. they will all be accessible in 1 click!

Enjoy,

Peter
